Healthcare guidance
Services are provided by licensed South African medical professionals.
2. Eligibility
To use EDOC Health:
You must be 18+ or have legal guardian consent
You must reside in South Africa or be legally eligible to access the service
You must provide accurate information
3. No Emergency Care
EDOC Health is not an emergency service. For emergencies call 112 / 10177 / nearest emergency service.
4. Medical Disclaimer
Consultations are based on information provided by you
Misrepresentation or withholding information may impact care
Doctors reserve the right to refuse treatment if clinically inappropriate
Advice is medical in nature but does not replace in-person clinical care where required
5. Prescriptions & Certificates
Issuing prescriptions, referrals or medical certificates is at the doctor’s clinical discretion and not guaranteed.
6. Pricing & Payments
Service fees apply as displayed on the platform
Payments must be completed before receiving documentation
No refunds where service has been delivered unless required by law
7. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
Provide truthful information
Use the service lawfully
Not abuse or misuse the platform
Respect healthcare professional boundaries
8. Privacy & POPIA Compliance
Use of the platform is subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable POPIA laws.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
EDOC Health is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
EDOC Health is not responsible for third-party service failures
EDOC Health is not liable for misuse of services by users
Nothing in these terms limits liability required by South African law.
10. Telehealth Disclaimers (HPCSA Compliant)
Telehealth Services
EDOC Health South Africa provides healthcare consultations using telemedicine/telehealth platforms in accordance with applicable South African law and the guidelines of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Nature of Telehealth
By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that:
Telehealth involves clinical consultations conducted remotely via secure electronic communication tools.
Telehealth consultations may have limitations when compared to in-person consultations, including limitations in examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
Where clinically necessary, the healthcare practitioner may:
Decline to issue a prescription or certificate
Recommend an in-person consultation
Refer you to another practitioner or healthcare facility
Consent to Telehealth
By accessing and using the platform, you provide informed consent to receive healthcare remotely via telehealth. You understand that:
Your participation is voluntary
You may withdraw consent at any time (except where treatment is already in progress or required by law)
Refusal or withdrawal of consent may affect your ability to receive telehealth services
Clinical Judgement
All healthcare services, prescriptions, referrals, and medical certificates issued via telehealth are subject to the professional clinical judgment of the treating doctor. Use of the platform does not guarantee:

Telehealth is not suitable for medical emergencies. For emergencies, please contact 112 / 10177 / local emergency services / nearest emergency department immediately.

Telehealth services are intended for use within South Africa, unless otherwise medically and legally permissible.
Confidentiality & Record Keeping
All telehealth consultations are documented and stored in accordance with:
HPCSA guidelines
POPIA requirements
South African healthcare record-keeping laws
Healthcare practitioners may access and store clinical information necessary to provide safe and lawful care.
Technology Risks
You acknowledge that telehealth may involve technological risks including:
Service interruptions
Poor connectivity
Unauthorised access attempts despite safeguards
We take reasonable measures to secure systems; however no system is completely risk-free.
11. Intellectual Property
All branding, content and platform assets are owned by EDOC Health and may not be copied or used without consent.
12. Platform Availability
We strive to ensure uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for:
Misuse
Fraud
Non-compliance
Legal requirement
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by South African law. Disputes fall under jurisdiction of South African courts.
